Memorial Day Grilling Tips

Bring out the natural sweetness of veggies by grilling.

Now that the warmer weather is here, time to fire up the grill for some family and friend celebrations!  While the standard fare includes less nutrient dense foods like hot dogs and hamburgers, consider the following:

Did you know that a 3 oz. cooked burger made with regular ground beef (80%) is 230 calories and almost 60% fat while the same burger made with 95% lean ground beef is 145 calories and 35% fat?  On top of that, the following cuts of beef are actually leaner than 95% ground beef and pair great with marinades:

  • Eye of round roast
  • Top round steak
  • Bottom round roast
  • Top sirloin steak
  • Round tip roast
